Ellwood House is a splendid 18th century stone built self-catering holiday cottage on the edge of Caldbeck village in the Northern Fells of the Lake District National Park.
Located in an elevated position, with views of the open Caldbeck Fells from the rear of the house. High Pike can be seen immediately due south of the cottage in the picturesque expanse known colloquially as 'back o'Skiddaw'. Just 100 yards across the field below you will find Gill Beck which runs through the village with a footpath just behind.
Ellwood House has recently benefited from a major upgrade involving the installation of a cast iron wood burning stove which provides a wonderful focal point and is somewhere great to cuddle-up in front of after a day on the fells, fitting of a solid oak floor and complete redecoration of the main lounge/dining room.
The cottage has bedrooms upstairs for up to six people with plenty of space, a great family bathroom (recently upgraded), open fire and a quiet secluded rear garden with
an adjoining barn providing ample secure storage for mountain bikes, etc.
A great place for families or groups of friends, this holiday cottage is perfect for a relaxing break "away from it all".
The cottage is sure to appeal to those who appreciate a quiet location with a rural aspect, 1/3 mile from the centre of our beautiful village.
Great walking and cycling is available on your doorstep - no need for your car once you're here - the Cumbria Way and Reivers Route pass through the village. There are also some great places to eat in Caldbeck itself and in the surrounding villages.
Our self catering rates offer excellent value for money and we look forward to welcoming you soon to Ellwood House.
